The Combined Berner Group, Künzelsau (D), has acquired Intachem 2010 Ltd. (UK) with the companies Ambratec GmbH, Mainz, Matecra GmbH, Nattheim (D) as well as Automotive Cleaning Chemicals [ACC] Ltd., Bridgwater (UK) effective from February 18, 2011. With this acquisition the activities of the chemical business – under the umbrella of the Caramba Chemical Group – continue to expand.
“This commitment means an expansion of our activities towards craftsmen, tradesmen and communal services. At the same time we have acquired a tried and proven direct sales team with experience in the chemical business,” said Thomas Stewing, spokesman for the board of Caramba Holding. The acquisition of ACC also means a first step towards entering the UK market which is an additional benefit of this agreement.
Ambratec GmbH, founded in 1976, is specialized in the development and sale of specialist technical chemical products for specific target groups such as craftsmen, tradesmen and communal services. With 139 employees, 85 of whom are in field sales, the company has an annual turnover of around 13 million euros. The branches in Muggensturm (D) and Oberhofen (A) are managed from Mainz.
Matecra GmbH offers industrial chemical products to do with repair, maintenance and production consumables for all branches of trade and industry as well as municipal services. The company employs 78 people, 54 of whom work in field sales, and has an annual turnover of around seven million euros. The company was founded in 1991.
Automotive Cleaning Chemicals Ltd. focuses on the fields of vehicle maintenance and care. It is known in England and the Netherlands through its Trafalgar brand. Currently the staff of 19 achieves an annual turnover of over three million euros. It was agreed not to disclose the price of the deal.
The Caramba Chemical Group
Under the umbrella of the Caramba Chemical Group more than 400 employees at 12 different locations develop, produce and sell chemical products, services and accessories for cleaning, care and maintenance in eight European countries. In fiscial year 2009/10 net sales of over 70 million euros were achieved.
The Caramba Chemical Group belongs to the internationally operating Combined Berner Group in Künzelsau (D) which last year achieved net sales of 856 million euros with approximately 8,000 employees.
